Duncan Street is a Happening Place

Going Legit

In our effort to formalize some aspects of the DSSC under the 501c7 umbrella, I feel it may be necessary to lay out why.  In a formal recognition as a "social club" with the IRS, it can enable the following:

Duncan Street Pride

Since the events at the Stonewall Inn in June, 1969,  a collective call to action continues to inspire us to live up to our Nation’s promise of equality, liberty, and justice for all.  Pride is a time to recall the trials the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) community has endured and to rejoice in the triumphs of trailblazing individuals who have bravely fought — and continue to fight — for full equality.

Woodson's celebration of "Negro History Week", designated for the second week in February, to coincide with marking the birthdays of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass.  Duncan Street would like to recognize Dr. Woodson's belief that "what we need is not a history of selected races or nations, but the history of the world void of national bias, race hatred and religious prejudice" as still relevant today as it was when spoken nearly 100 years ago.
